Lily Tomlin plays a lesbian poet/retired teacher who’s moral convictions have provided her with great strength but have also strained many relationships.
One day her granddaughter, Sage (Julia Garner), shows up needing $600 for a very urgent emergency. So, the two then pay a visit to several friends and acquaintances with the hope of collecting on long standing debts.
The story is very well written, Tomlin and Garner are quite believable as grandmother and granddaughter.
It’s worth noting that if you’re the conservative type you probably won’t like this movie very much. But if you consider yourself to be pretty open-minded then you’ll no doubt enjoy it.
