Big Movie Review

After a wish turns 12-year-old Josh Baskin (David Moscow) into a 30-year-old man (Tom Hanks), he heads to New York City and gets a low-level job at MacMillen Toy Company. A chance encounter with the owner (Robert Loggia) of the company leads to a promotion testing new toys. Soon a fellow employee, Susan Lawrence (Elizabeth Perkins), takes a romantic interest in Josh. However, the pressure of living as an adult begins to overwhelm him, and he longs to return to his simple, former life as a boy.
This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid… and it still is to this day!
Tom Hanks really gave this role his all and it ultimately helped launch his career.
I still don’t know if Zoltar actually grants wishes or not but I guess that’s part of what makes this movie so magical.

Ordinary World Movie Review

Billie Joe Armstrong leads an all-star cast in the candid and heartwarming comedy, Ordinary World. Perry (Armstrong), a former punk rocker, is ten years into his band’s “indefinite hiatus” and is struggling with his adjustment to the real world, which includes working in his family’s hardware store. When Perry’s hotshot attorney wife (Selma Blair) and precocious young daughter forget his 40th birthday, his brother (Chris Messina) takes pity and gives him the money to throw a huge rockstar blowout in a fancy New York hotel. At the party, Perry’s punk past clashes hilariously with his grown-up reality as he encounters crazy former bandmates, including best pal Gary (Fred Armisen), and an old-flame-turned-manager (Judy Greer), who offers him a chance to revive his stalled career, all in one outrageous day!
I used to be a pretty big fan of Green Day back in the day. So, when I heard that Billie Joe Armstrong actually starred in a movie I quickly rented the first copy I could find.
I must admit… I actually enjoyed this movie. I found the main character to be very relatable. But that’s probably because I’ve been a musician for the past 16 years.
The story is very well written and the jokes are clever. Armstrong delivers a strong performance. The entire cast is awesome!
If you like movies about musicians or happen to be a big fan of Billie Joe Armstrong then I highly recommend watching Ordinary World.

The Confirmation Movie Review

‚ÄčA divorced father and his eight-year-old son, spend a rather predictable weekend together, but when a valuable toolbox gets stolen, the search for the thieves will turn into a true family bonding.
I took a chance on this movie and I’m glad I did.
The Confirmation is a realistic depiction of how difficult it can be to repair a strained father/son relationship. But it also shows just how important such a relationship can be.
Clive Owen and Jaeden Lieberher give excellent performances and are very believable as father and son.
If you like movies with well developed characters then I highly recommend watching The Confirmation.

Men, Women & Children Movie Review

‚ÄčMen, Women & Children is an excellent commentary on society’s reliance on technology. It’s neither for or against technology. Still, it accurately depicts the pros and cons of each side.
Don Truby (Adam Sandler) and his 15 year old son use the internet for research, communication, and the watching of pornography. Hannah is an aspiring actress whose mother (Judy Greer) posts pictures of her on a modeling website. Overprotective mom Patricia Beltmeyer (Jennifer Garner) does everything in her power to protect her daughter from the digital age.
Eventually, each character is forced to deal with the consequences of their actions.
The entire cast is great! The story is very well written and well thought out. I particularly liked all of the references to Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan. It helped set this movie apart from most family dramas.
If you like deep insightful movies then I recommend watching Men, Women & Children.
