The Veil Movie Review

Thirty years after a charismatic cult leader convinced his followers to kill themselves, a survivor returns to the scene of the horror with a documentary crew.
I somewhat expected this to be a stereotypical horror movie but the story is actually quite intriguing. Yes, much of the acting falls flat and most of the action sequences are extremely cheesy but it does raise a lot of deep spiritual/philosophical questions.
I won’t comment much on Jessica Alba’s performance. She… did an okay job.
If you like movies about cults you might enjoy this but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.

Barely Lethal Movie Review

‚ÄčSeeking a normal adolescence, a special-operations agent (Hailee Steinfeld) fakes her own death and enrolls in high school as an exchange student.
The only reason I rented Barely Lethal was because of the catchy title. Well, also because one of my favorite Game of Thrones actresses, Sophie Turner, is in it.
I mean, it’s not an entirely terrible movie but it isn’t very good either.
Hailee Steinfeld is not believable as an adolescent badass spy. Though, I will admit it was interesting to watch her attempt to stretch her acting chops. There were a couple of scenes in which I could tell she was really giving it her all but ultimately her performance fell flat.
Samuel L. Jackson delivers the strongest performance in this movie as Hardman and he’s not even the main character.
Maybe over time Barely Lethal will become a cult favorite amongst teenagers. But don’t quote me on that.

Some Kind of Beautiful Movie Review

Some Kind of Beautiful is a very mediocre romance comedy starring Pierce Brosnan, Jessica Alba and Salma Hayek.

At its core it’s your typical love triangle kind of romance.

Pierce Brosnan plays a philandering English professor who marries one of his students, Alba, then ends up falling for her older sister, Hayek.

There are a few humorous moments but ultimately the story falls flat.

I gotta admit that the one saving grace of this movie is Salma Hayek’s awesome nude scene. And it’s not even a sexually explicit scene. Though, she does manage to show off her amazing figure.

Yes…. uh anyway….
